Olematute kylade projekt / Project for Non-existent Villages

- One-day tour playing biophysical music concerts across several abandoned villages in the Estonian countryside.

Audience, curators and artists travel together on a bus throughout a whole day of sound, silence, ghost houses and unexpected acoustics. Those villages are considered as null pointers; those points existing on maps and in cultural memory but which have lost the objects being refered to. Participating artists excavate embedded meanings in these culturally changing environments and search for intersections of traditional and contemporary cultural practices.

Each day features short lectures from University of Edinburgh staff, a keynote speaker talking to the day’s theme, a gritty panel discussion will consume each afternoon and the day will end with a concert. The symposium also celebrates 10 years of the University of Edinburgh’s MSc in Sound Design, a programme of study that is unique in scope and ambition.

Moving Forest aka The Castle | 12h Performance

A durational performance for Xth Sense, biophysical music, extended voices, and blood machines.

In the forest (greater London metropolis), omen[act0] begins with witches messaging prophecy and prediction. Inside the castle, classic and contemporary tales of remorse[act1], betrayal[act2] and overthrow [act3] unfold. Each act is realized by collaborating visual, sound and performance artists making use of all mediums, elaborating operatic manoeuvre into an escalating scheme of conspiracy and its contemporaneous political manifestations.

Outside the castle, the mobile forest, electronically updated with antennas, electronic magnetic waves, geolocation, armed with bytes and pixels, signals and slogans, is assembled for simulated insurgency measures. Mobilized urbanites, empowered by free network emissions, carry the camouflage tree antennas, in a spider-shaped movement, towards the Castle Central. As the sheer strength of signals forces an entry into the Castle, a final merging of forest and castle occurs during the act4 – Insurgency; a moment of downfall, jubilation and loss. The act of eternal return[act5] brings us back to [act0]omen set admist a dusted, ruined castle.
