The University of Edinburgh is delighted to announce and invite you to its first symposium on sound. Over three days, we’ll explore the question “What is sound design…?” by deliberately avoiding answers, engaging instead with sound and its design in terms of duration. On day 1 we’re listening from samples to seconds, on day 2, seconds to scenes and on day 3, scenes to systems. Each day features short lectures from University of Edinburgh staff, a keynote speaker talking to the day’s theme, a gritty panel discussion will consume each afternoon and the day will end with a concert. The symposium also celebrates 10 years of the University of Edinburgh’s MSc in Sound Design, a programme of study that is unique in scope and ambition.
